Main Classifications Of Lead-Acid Battery Chargers
Feb 07, 2026| Lead-acid battery chargers can be classified according to different dimensions. Based on charging control method, they can be divided into constant current chargers, constant voltage chargers, staged chargers, pulse chargers, and variable voltage intermittent chargers, among which the three-stage charging mode is common. Based on application scenario and compatible battery type, they can be divided into starting battery chargers, stationary battery chargers, and electric bicycle battery chargers. Based on internal technology principle, they can be divided into linear chargers and switching power supply chargers, the latter using high-frequency switching technology. Based on intelligence level, they can be divided into traditional chargers and intelligent chargers. Intelligent chargers use microcomputer chip control and have functions such as automatic battery status identification, switching charging stages, and multiple protections.
When purchasing a charger, it is necessary to ensure that it matches the battery type, rated voltage, and capacity. The charging current is generally recommended to be 10% to 20% of the battery capacity. For a 12V valve-regulated sealed lead-acid battery, the normal float charge voltage is between 13.5V and 13.8V.
